About Independent Max Netterfield for Riverina

Committed to bold ideas, local leadership, and a stronger Riverina.

Who is Max Netterfield?

Max Netterfield grew up in the rural community of Murrumbateman in regional New South Wales, where life on a small property instilled in him a strong sense of independence, responsibility, and respect for the quiet resilience of country communities.

Growing up in a regional environment taught him early the value of listening, hard work, and standing on one’s own feet. Those experiences shaped his understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing regional Australia and continue to inform his belief that rural communities deserve strong, thoughtful representation and long-term investment in their future.

Over time, Max developed a strong interest in public life and the role leadership plays in shaping communities and institutions. His path has not been defined by a single moment, but by a series of lessons drawn from personal experience, study, travel, and the people around him. These experiences reinforced a simple belief: that progress comes from persistence, integrity, and a willingness to take responsibility when things are difficult.

Rural Lessons, Lasting Impact

Max grew up on a forty-acre property in Murrumbateman, surrounded by horses and the long, steady rhythm of rural life. There is a silence in the country that teaches you to listen and a distance between homes that teaches you to stand on your own feet. Both shaped him long before he understood how.

My Vision

Today, Max is focused on building a future grounded in practical solutions, community engagement, and the conviction that the next generation of leadership must be prepared to work hard, listen carefully, and always aim to leave their community stronger than they found it.

Why Politics? Why Now?

I am running because I can feel the gap between what Australia is and what it could be, and I refuse to accept that gap as permanent. Politics, to me, is not a career path or a title to chase, it is a responsibility that calls when you see your community being asked to settle for less than it deserves. Riverina is a place of strength, resilience, and enormous potential, yet too often it is treated as an afterthought, managed rather than invested in, maintained rather than built. I am stepping forward because I believe this region, and this country, are capable of far more, and because I am not willing to sit back and watch opportunity slip further out of reach for the next generation.

Politics is calling me because this moment demands more than observation, it demands action. I want to help rebuild a nation that believes in itself again, that invests in its people, its industries, and its future with confidence rather than caution. I am driven by the belief that leadership should be about service, about bringing energy, ideas, and determination to the challenges in front of us, not avoiding them. This campaign is about restoring ambition, creating real opportunity, and ensuring that communities like Riverina are not just part of Australia’s story, but central to its future.

Just Getting Started

This is my story. And I am only at the beginning of it.
